Pogonip

Riding in Santa Cruz

April 16, 2007

After Sea Otter, I couldn't wait to ride a trail that wasn't crowded--which would be ANY trail not at Ft. Ord. My buddy Mike took me to Pogonip in Santa Cruz. It's one of the trails in the UCSC area, and provided a great test of my full suspension.

When we got to the top of the jumps, there were all sorts of little play areas (tabletops, doubles, and just some lips) to hit. There was one section I could just really get some serious air on, where Mike was able to clear both the double and the tabletop.

After we got through playing on the jumps, we hit the downhill fun section. There were a tonload of berms and lots of log crossings. Once you get through that, you are quickly back at the cars. But this ride just made me remember why I got into biking--the feeling of being free.
