Stanford

Assaulted by the Urban Jungle at Stanford

March 26, 2005

The rain has made me so crazy that I was determined to ride, even if it was an urban assault at Stanford. Well, after being a bit too overconfident, I think the Urban Jungle attacked me. While Daryl and I were waiting, we were going down a steep set of stairs between the music hall and the book store, not far from the Quad.

Right as Joel and Becca got here, I crashed. Bike stopped; I didn't. Daryl said he took the picture about two steps before I took the perfect endo and supermanned directly on my chest, forearms, and thighs. I do remember having quite the audience (in addition to Daryl), but I was a bit skittish the rest of the day (and have invested in a full face helmet for next time I try this stuff).

Becca and Joel joined us for the ride--Daryl had us taking every curb we could, and trying to jump over it. We were all working on going down various sets of stairs, until Daryl got snake bit. You can tell by the last photo why a pinch flat is called a snake bite. It looks like two fangs ran right down the tube.
